Susan is a principal and chair of the board of DES Architects + Engineers, a premier design firm in the Silicon Valley. With a staff of more than ninety professionals, DES provides full-service design through a multi-disciplinary approach which includes providing architecture, interior design, structural engineering, civil engineering, landscape architecture and visual communications services to clients in the corporate, life science, higher education, and healthcare markets.

Since graduation from Cornell’s architecture program in 1979, Susan has spent 29 years of her experience at DES, including nineteen as principal.  She has provided leadership in the diversification of projects by the firm and has played a key role in DES’ growth and expansion into new markets. As a licensed architect, LEED accredited professional and certified interior designer, Susan focuses on creating communities, whether in interior spaces or multiple building campuses.

Susan has served on the Board of Directors of the San Mateo County Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the City of Palo Alto’s Architectural Review Board, and the Planning Review Committee of the Palo Alto Unified School District Building for Excellence Program.  Susan currently serves as a regent of the California Architectural Foundation, which is the funding and research arm of the American Institute of Architects, California Council.
